The games officially launched on Thursday, and looked to have gone off without any major hitches. Betfair joins partner Golden Nugget Casino as the only sites to support Live Dealer, meaning that the format is still exclusive to the Golden Nugget AC online gambling license.
Unlike Golden Nugget, Betfair does not operate a land-based casino in Atlantic City. It therefore made sense for the site to share a space with Golden Nugget, and that’s exactly what it did.
In reality, Betfair’s Live Dealer games are virtually identical to Golden Nugget’s. Beyond sharing the same space, the duo will share the same dealers, liquidity, and most tables.
Ultimately this means that Golden Nugget Casino players will be seated with Betfair players, and vice versa. Golden Nugget will retain exclusive rights to just one Live Dealer Blackjack table — two other blackjack tables, roulette, and baccarat will be shared.
Betfair will also support the same recently expanded hours as Golden Nugget: 3 p.m. – 3 a.m., seven days per week.
Betting behind on Betfair
It originally looked as though the launch of Betfair’s Live Dealer games might occur in tandem with a new Bet Behind blackjack side bet.
Sadly, it didn’t happen, although the new feature — which allows observers and main game players to bet on other players’ hands — is expected to launch in somewhat short order.
That’s good news for NJ online casino players, as with the introduction of another Live Dealer portal, it’s plausible that demand will supercede supply, resulting in a healthy number of observers.
Betfair won’t have to worry about overcrowding for its roulette and baccarat games, as they can service an uncapped number of patrons.
More games coming soon
As we first mentioned when Betfair announced the launch of Live Dealer in April, more Live Dealer games are on the horizon. In the future, expect one or more of the following:
- Casino Hold’em
- Super 6 Baccarat
- 24/7 Automatic Live Roulette
Sure enough, from the Betfair Live Dealer lobby, there is an indicator proclaiming “More Games Coming Soon”.
Casino Hold’em in particular seems like it will be a go in New Jersey, as Betfair already supports that game on its international site. Sic-Bo, Hi-Lo, and French Roulette are also available as part of the site’s Live Casino in Europe.
